Wat Burapha Phiram, Tallest Buddha in Thailand – Roi Et

Wat Buraphaphiram (วัดบูรพาภิราม in Thai) is a charming temple located near Somdet Phra Srinakarin Park in the heart of Roi Et town, Northeastern Thailand. Formerly known as Wat Hua Ro this temple was later renamed as Wat Burapha Phiram.

This temple hosts the Thailand’s highest blessing Buddha image called Phra Phuttha Ratana Mongkhon Maha Muni or Luangpho Yai, a spectacular over 59-meter high image (68-meter high including the base) which can be seen from any place within the city.

The Wat Burapha Phiram temple compound has a museum. East side of the temple, adjacent to the ancient city moat, is the construction site of the pavilion housing Chao Pho Maha Sakdanuphab spirit which is highly revered by Roi Et residents.
