Engine problem forces Qantas jet back to Bangkok

Sydney – A Sydney-bound Qantas Airways Boeing 747 returned to Bangkok after the pilot shut down one engine following what the Australian carrier described as a “bang.”

Sunday’s Q52 flight, which had 356 passengers aboard, landed safely in Bangkok about an hour after take-off, a Qantas spokesman said Monday.
