Thai PM Yingluck Shinawatra greets her Bahraini counterpart
BANGKOK, 6 September 2011 (NNT) – Bahraini Prime Minister Prince Khalifa ibn Salman Al Khalifa paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra upon her appointment and has confirmed strong ties between the two countries.
Thailand’s Prime Minister Yingluck on Monday welcomed the Bahraini prime minister and hosted a luncheon in his honour, followed by a bilateral discussion.
In their discussion, both Thai and Bahraini prime ministers agreed to enhance closer ties in all aspects, especially tourism, investment and trade.
At present, Bahraini tourists are found to increasingly visit Thailand to receive medical treatment. Both sides considered it a good opportunity to increase investment in the field.
Prime Minister Yingluck also expressed her intention to expand the market of Thai rice to the Middle East, using Bahrain as a springboard.
