Yingluck promises to create a strong foundation for Thai economy, society and politics

BANGKOK, 23 August 2011 (NNT) – During the delivery of the government’s policy statement, Thailand’s Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said she would create a strong foundation for Thai economy, society, and politics.

The prime minister read out the 44-page policy statement of the government to Parliament on Tuesday morning.

Ms Yingluck indicated that from the forces of the global economy, Thailand was under restructuring period of the economy, politics, and society.

She said her government’s policies would be flexible to various factors. Three main policies are 1) leading the country to a balanced and strong economy, 2) bringing reconciliation to Thailand and create an equal society, 3) getting ready for the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 by building strong economic, social, cultural, and political foundations.

Reconciliation is among the urgent policies needed to be implemented within her first year in office.
