PATTANI, Aug 8 – A teacher was shot dead in Pattani on his way to work Wednesday morning, and a defence volunteer was killed Tuesday night in the adjacent province of Narathiwat.

Noppadol Sasimonthon, a teacher at Baan Tangyonglu School in the provincial seat, was driving his motorcycle from home to school about 8.30am when he was shot dead by a gunman on a motorcycle. The police are collecting evidence on the spot and are attempting to track the gunman.
