PRAE, 9 July 2011 (NNT) – The Excise Department and Police Division 5 and 6 have added more technologies to their operation which began 3 months ago to stop the smuggling of illegal alcohol in the North of Thailand. Police have confiscated illegal items worth 5 million THB in fine.
According to Department Director-General, Mr. Pongpanu Sawetroon, the follow up operations at 11 locations in Phrae province rounded up 829 perpetrators for transporting illegal alcohol.
Police officers from Phrae, Lampang, Chiang Rai, Uttaradit, Sukhothai and Phitsanulok have collaborated with the Excise Department in stopping the delivery of alcohol from the northern region to Central Thailand.
