Eight southern provinces of Thailand flooded

BANGKOK, 1 April 2011 (NNT) – A total of eight southern provinces have been experiencing serious flooding resulting in 13 fatalities as of 31 March 2011, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).

DDPM Director-General Wiboon Sanguanpong reported that there have been 514 sub-districts in 81 districts under eight provinces in the South which are suffering from the flooding while 842,324 villagers in 239,160 households have been affected by the natural disaster so far.

Mr Wiboon added that four houses were completely devastated while 132 others were partly damaged.
