Thai Army confirms weaponry missing from Thanarat Camp

BANGKOK, 4 February 2011 (NNT) – The Royal Thai Army has acknowledged that a large number of weapons have disappeared from Dhanarat Infantry Camp in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, suspecting officers of fraud and negligence.

In response to a report that over 100 items of military weaponry had gone missing from the army depot at Dhanarat Infantry Camp in Pranburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Army Spokesperson Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd verified the information and said the matter had been reported to the police.

The Spokesperson pointed out that there were three possible scenarios behind the case – the weapons were stolen, misplaced or a little of both. He ruled out burglary as there were no traces of intrusion but, instead, suspected that some of the insiders were responsible.
