MAHASARAKAM, 8 December 2010 (NNT) – The Meteorological Department has warned the denizens of the upper North to brace for chilly weather, as the temperature is expected to drop another 4-6 degree Celsius; while many in I-Sarn (Isan) are already donning winter clothing to keep themselves warm.

The coldest weather in 30 years in Mahasarakam province has prompted authorities to urge people to keep themselves warm to avoid catching a cold, and look out for their health. According to the meteorologist, the cold front is expected to last longer this year than it did last year.

Meanwhile, in Kalasin, the mercury has dropped to 17 degree Celsius in the province, and to between 10-12 degree in mountainous areas. As cold as it is, the temperature has been predicted to drop further in the next few days. Children and the elderly in 13 districts are said to have already come down with respiratory and flu symptoms.
