Thai Pregnant Woman Fights off Rape by Man Impersonating Police

A pregnant woman has managed to fight off a man who is suspected to have been impersonating a police officer in Pattaya on Sunday. The attacker failed in his attempt to rape the young woman but stole her handbag before fleeing the scene.

Pattaya, the 17th of October 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 10:30pm on Sunday, Lieutenant Colonel Chatchai Srisuwan (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of an attempted rape and robbery conducted by a man thought to be impersonating a police officer in South Pattaya.

According to a police statement, Mr. Narainet Juanrangsin [20] and his pregnant cousin Ms. Buathong Phumset [18] reported to police claiming to have been deceived by a man impersonating a police officer in front of Soi Mitchim, South Pattaya Road. The pair explained that they had been stopped by the man and interrogated over the ownership of their motorbike, which he subsequently claimed was stolen.
