BANGKOK, 18 October 2010 (NNT) – The State Railway of Thailand has canceled part of its northeastern and northern train services in light of flood.
The State Railway of Thailand yesterday disclosed that it had canceled part of its services to and from the Northeast and the North. All services north of Nakorn Sawan have completely come to a halt, while those going northeast have been canceled from Nakorn Rachasima Province onwards, thanks to the flood water inundating the tracks.
The agency said services would resume immediately after the water subsided and the damaged tracks repaired given thousands of passengers has been stranded in several areas; however, it could not say when approximately the services would be available.

I was wondering what is the best time of year to visit Thailand. I have been itching to go, and have been browsing through Phuket resort packages. Is there a rainy and dry season like many of the surrounding countries? If so, when are they? I would like to plan my vacation for the best weather possible.
