Visitors to Thailand rises

Despite the political crisis in Thailand in May and June, the country saw an increase in visitors in the first half of the year.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports showed there were 7,515,025 visitors between January and June, compared to 6,609,313 in 2009. Canadian arrivals rose by 3.8%.

In a release, the ministry said that the political crisis did cut into visitations to Bangkok but arrivals to popular Phuket “remained relatively buoyant.
