Top-ranked Rafael Nadal and US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro will play in this year’s PTT Thailand Open, organisers said yesterday.

Nadal, the reigning Wimbledon and French Open champion, withdrew from the previous two editions due to an abdominal injury.

“I have been disappointed that I have not been able to play the PTT Thailand Open in previous years,” the Spaniard said in a statement.

“But this year with my health and body in good shape, I am really looking forward to playing some great tennis for the Thai fans.”

The tournament will be held at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani from Sept 25-Oct 3.
