Tour Speedboat Collides with Trawler Off Krabi Coast, One Tourist Killed
KRABI – A tour speedboat carrying 55 people collided with a fishing trawler near the Koh Khai–Koh Phi Phi area in Krabi province on Sunday morning, resulting in one fatality and 21 other injuries. The incident occurred around 8:55 a.m. in the Andaman Sea between Koh Khai and Koh Phi Phi in Muang Krabi district.

The speedboat, operated by A Timer tour company and identified as Kornvich Marine 888, was carrying three crew members, two guides, and 50 tourists, most of whom were Russian nationals. It overturned following the collision with the trawler Pichaisamut 1.

Two rescue boats were dispatched to the scene, evacuating all passengers and crew. According to the Maritime Enforcement Command Centre 3, 22 people were injured, including three Thais and 19 foreigners. One Russian tourist, identified as Starykh Elizaveta, later died from critical injuries. The remaining injured were categorized as two in serious condition, twelve with moderate injuries, and seven with minor injuries.
Tourists Evacuated from Stricken Speedboat Off Krabi Coast
All survivors were brought ashore at Chalong Pier in Phuket and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway by relevant maritime authorities.
