Man Arrested in Rayong for Slaughtering Stray Dogs for Food
RAYONG – A 47-year-old man has been arrested in Rayong province on animal cruelty charges after local residents reported he was routinely slaughtering and butchering stray dogs to consume as a side dish while drinking. Police apprehended the suspect, identified as Mr. Phet, following complaints supported by video evidence from neighbors.

Officers discovered compelling evidence at the suspect’s rental property, including the carcasses of two female dogs lying near an outdoor fire. One dog had been skinned and butchered, with its hide and a cleaver found nearby. The suspect, who appeared intoxicated during the arrest, initially resisted officers and denied the allegations against him.
According to neighbors, Mr. Phet, a factory welder originally from Sakon Nakhon province, frequently drank with friends and regularly captured stray dogs from the area to prepare as food, conducting the butchering openly despite causing visible distress within the community.
Police have formally charged Mr. Phet with animal cruelty under Thailand’s animal protection laws. Authorities have instructed local residents to assist in burying the remains of the two dogs found at the scene.
