The victim, Ms. Pojana, sustained fatal stab wounds to her chest, back, and neck during a heated argument while the couple was driving along Road 117 in Nong Lum subdistrict. Police reports indicate that Sombat, a recent widower who had been in a relationship with the victim for four to five months, was driven by jealousy over their age gap and suspicions she was seeing younger men.
Sombat had borrowed his employer’s pickup truck earlier that day, taking a half-day off work to collect Ms. Pojana from Sukhothai. During the return journey, an argument escalated into violence, with Sombat using a knife he brought with him to attack her.
