Thailand to Make History as First Southeast Asian Host of Tomorrowland in 2026

Bangkok – In a landmark moment for Thailand’s entertainment and tourism industries, the globally celebrated Tomorrowland music festival will make its Southeast Asian debut in Chon Buri province in 2026. The announcement, confirmed by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, follows high-level discussions between Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Tomorrowland executives, signaling a major win for the country’s soft power ambitions.

Thailand to Host Summer Sonic and Tomorrowland Festivals

The breakthrough was set in motion during a June 25 meeting between PM Paetongtarn, Tomorrowland CEO Bruno Vanwelsenaers, and senior executive Filip Teelinck. The talks centered on Thailand’s vision to become more than just a venue but a cultural co-creator of the festival, integrating local artists, traditions, and creative talent into the event’s DNA.

“This is not merely about hosting—it’s about making Thailand the heartbeat of Tomorrowland,” Paetongtarn emphasized in a statement. The festival, she noted, aligns with the government’s strategy to position the country as a “World Event Destination,” leveraging music and cultural experiences to drive economic growth, empower Thai creatives, and unlock new revenue streams.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the initiative, first conceptualized under former PM Srettha Thavisin’s administration, represents a “pivotal moment” for Thailand’s creative economy. Beyond attracting international visitors, the festival aims to elevate local artists and set new benchmarks for live entertainment in the region.

Tomorrowland’s arrival underscores Thailand’s growing influence in the global events landscape, building on its reputation as a hub for world-class festivals and tourism. With its signature blend of electronic music, immersive stages, and cross-cultural experiences, the Thai edition is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of attendees, further boosting the country’s post-pandemic recovery.

Board of Investment Approves Support for International Festivals to Boost Tourism

As preparations begin, the government has pledged to ensure the event delivers maximum benefits for Thai citizens, from job creation to international exposure for homegrown talent. For festival enthusiasts and industry stakeholders alike, 2026 promises to be a historic year—one where Thailand’s cultural vibrancy meets the spectacle of Tomorrowland on a global stage.
