New Minimum Wage Rates Effective Across Thailand
BANGKOK (NBT WORLD) – A new schedule of minimum wage rates across Thailand has now taken effect, following its publication in the Royal Gazette on July 1st, 2025.
Thai Labor Ministry Plans 400 Baht Minimum Wage
The announcement from the tripartite wage committee, titled Minimum Wage Rate No. 14, establishes new daily wages for all employers and employees based on a resolution from June 17th, 2025.
A minimum wage of 400 Thai baht per day is set for specific sectors. These include Type 2, 3, and 4 hotels and entertainment venues nationwide as defined by law. The 400-baht rate also applies to all business types in Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Phuket, Rayong, and the Ko Samui district of Surat Thani.
The new structure introduces several other wage tiers. A rate of 380 Thai baht is set for Mueang Chiang Mai district in Chiang Mai and Hat Yai district in Songkhla. A rate of 372 Thai baht applies to the provinces of Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, and Samut Sakhon. Nakhon Ratchasima province will have a rate of 359 Thai baht.
A daily wage of 358 Thai baht is mandated for Samut Songkhram province. The rate is 357 Thai baht in Khon Kaen, Prachinburi, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, and all of Chiang Mai province except for its Mueang district. Lopburi province is set at 356 Thai baht, while Nakhon Nayok, Suphan Buri, and Nong Khai are at 355 Thai baht.
Further rates include 354 Thai baht for Krabi and Trat. A rate of 352 Thai baht is established for fourteen provinces. These are Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, Chiang Rai, Tak, Nakhon Phanom, Buriram, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phang Nga, Phitsanulok, Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Sa Kaeo, Ubon Ratchathani, all of Songkhla except Hat Yai district, and all of Surat Thani except Ko Samui district.
A wage of 351 Thai baht is set for Chumphon, Phetchaburi, and Surin. The rate will be 350 Thai baht in Nakhon Sawan, Yasothon, and Lamphun. The wage is 349 Thai baht in Kalasin, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Bueng Kan, Phetchabun, and Roi Et. A rate of 348 Thai baht applies to Chai Nat, Chaiyaphum, Phatthalung, Sing Buri, and Ang Thong.
The largest group of provinces falls under the 347 Thai baht rate. These are Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Maha Sarakham, Mae Hong Son, Ranong, Ratchaburi, Lampang, Loei, Si Sa Ket, Satun, Sukhothai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Amnat Charoen, Udon Thani, Uttaradit, and Uthai Thani.
A rate of 345 Thai baht is set for Trang, Nan, Phayao, and Phrae. The provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala have a rate of 337 Thai baht.
Minimum Wage to Be Raised to 400 Baht in Tourist Areas
The announcement specifies that a “day” refers to an employee’s normal working hours. This is defined as not exceeding seven hours for work that may be hazardous to health and safety, according to 1998 Ministerial Regulation No. 2 of the 1998 Labor Protection Act, and eight hours for all other work. Employers are legally prohibited from paying employees less than the specified minimum wage.
