KOH PHANGAN – A 54-year-old British woman was found dead on the beach of Koh Phangan, just a day after attending the island’s famous full moon party. Authorities suspect she drowned after going swimming while intoxicated, the British media reported.

The woman’s body was discovered near her beachfront bungalow shortly before she was due to check out. Preliminary investigations indicate drowning as the likely cause of death, with X-ray results showing sand and water in her lungs. There were no visible signs of assault or struggle on her body.

Local media reported that the woman had been drinking heavily the night before and was last seen entering the water alone. Her personal belongings, including her passport, were found undisturbed in her accommodation.

Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to confirm whether the death was accidental, as initially believed. The British Embassy has been informed, and coordination is underway for repatriation.

The death occurred following the island’s monthly full moon party at Haad Rin Beach, a popular event that attracts thousands of travelers and backpackers for a night of music, drinking, and dancing on the sand.
