The clash erupted around 4:15 AM on May 19 near a cluster of coconut trees along the shoreline. Pattaya City Police arrived to find two groups—each with five to six members—engaged in a heated physical altercation, with visible injuries including bruises and cuts. Despite officers’ attempts to mediate, tensions remained high, forcing authorities to escort all parties to the police station for questioning, the Pattaya Police Department said.
According to statements from the transgender group, the conflict began when a group of intoxicated foreign tourists approached them to negotiate paid sexual services. An initial agreement was reached for 3,000 baht, with a 1,000 baht deposit paid upfront. However, concerns over the tourists’ drunken behavior led one transgender individual to insist on bringing a companion for safety.
The tourists allegedly backed out of the deal and demanded a refund, triggering a heated argument. The situation escalated when one tourist reportedly struck a transgender individual with a bottle, igniting a full-blown brawl. Video footage of the incident shows both groups exchanging blows and chasing each other along the beachfront.
A 29-year-old delivery rider, waiting nearby for a customer, intervened after witnessing what he believed was an assault. In the chaos, the tourists allegedly broke free, grabbed a wooden plank, and attacked him, damaging his motorcycle and phone.
Ongoing Investigation
Police are reviewing CCTV footage and witness testimonies to determine liability. No arrests have been made yet, but authorities vow a transparent legal process for all involved.
