Patong Beach, Phuket – A holiday thrill turned to terror for a foreign tourist who suffered a broken leg after falling from a parasail and slamming into a jet ski at one of Phuket’s busiest beaches Tuesday afternoon.

Chinese Tourist Compensated for Phuket Parasailing Accident

The accident occurred near the Bangla Police Booth around mid-afternoon on April 29, when the unnamed tourist suddenly detached from the parasailing harness mid-flight. Eyewitnesses described the victim plummeting nearly 20 meters before striking a passing jet ski in the water below.
Emergency Response

First responders found the conscious but distressed tourist with a severely deformed leg from the impact. Medics stabilized the injury with splints and pain relief before rushing him to Patong Hospital. Beach operators immediately suspended all parasailing activities pending investigation.

Local authorities have launched a probe into whether equipment failure or human error caused the fall. This marks at least the third serious parasailing incident in Phuket since 2023.

“These attractions operate like a wild west with no real oversight,” said a Patong business owner who witnessed the crash. “It’s only luck that this wasn’t fatal.”
