Two ‘Germans’ and a Turkish Man Arrested for Alleged Assault on Russian Tourist in Phuket

Phuket, Thailand – A Russian tourist, identified as A. B., was injured in a late-night altercation after intervening to stop an alleged attempted rape of two Finnish women. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in the popular tourist area of Patong. Three foreign nationals—two Germans and one Turkish man—have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Russian Tourist Injured While Defending Finnish Women from Alleged Assault in Phuket Hotel

According to police reports, the two Finnish women were in their hotel room when three men, described as foreigners, forcibly entered and attempted to assault them. The Russian man, who was passing by, reportedly witnessed the incident and intervened to protect the women. In response, the attackers turned on him, causing injuries to his face before fleeing the scene.

The Finnish women immediately reported the incident to the Patong Police, who launched an investigation. Authorities later identified the suspects as “German” nationals A. C. C., 30, and A. A. C., 22, along with Turkish national Y. S., 23. The trio was found staying at a nearby hotel and taken into custody.

During questioning, the suspects denied the allegations of attempted rape. They claimed they had been socializing with the Finnish women at a local entertainment venue and only intended to escort them back to their hotel room. The suspects alleged that the Russian tourist, confronted them, claiming to be the boyfriend of one of the women, which led to an argument and subsequent physical altercation.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and verify the claims made by both the victims and the suspects. The injured Russian tourist received medical treatment for his facial injuries and is reportedly recovering.

This incident has raised concerns about safety in Phuket, a popular destination for international tourists. Local authorities have assured the public that they are taking steps to enhance security and prevent such incidents in the future.

The suspects remain in custody as the investigation unfolds, and they could face serious charges, including assault and attempted sexual violence, if found guilty. The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting the importance of tourist safety and the need for vigilance in crowded tourist areas.
