The Koh Pha Ngan Tourist Police responded to frantic calls from locals reporting a sedan driving erratically along the Chalok Lam–Ban Thong Sala Road, swerving and cutting off vehicles. Witnesses alerted authorities via the 1155 hotline, prompting a patrol unit to intercept the car, which was driven by Mr. I., a Russian national, with a female companion in the passenger seat.
Officers pursued the vehicle until it stopped at an unregistered rental property in Ban Tai. Upon inspection, police found two illegal disposable e-cigarettes (banned in Thailand) and evidence of recent cocaine use (a Category 2 narcotic)
During questioning, Mr. I. exhibited slurred speech and erratic behavior, leading officers to suspect intoxication. He later confessed to cocaine use and admitted ownership of the vaping devices. Despite initially resisting, he apologized for his actions.
The suspect now faces severe penalties under Thai law, including reckless driving endangering public safety, possession and use of cocaine (punishable by imprisonment) and importation of untaxed e-cigarettes (fines or jail time)
He was transferred to Koh Pha Ngan Police Station for further legal processing.
