52 dead and 318 injured in the first of the New Year’s dangerous days

Fifty-two people were killed and 318 others injured in 322 road accidents on the first of the notorious 10 dangerous days of holiday travel, lasting until January 5th, according to Education Minister Pol Gen Permpoon Chidchob, in his capacity as head of the ‘Directorate to Prevent and Reduce Road Accidents during New Year Festival’.

Nakhon Si Thammarat recorded the highest number of road accidents, at 17. Most deaths occurred in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Bangkok, four in each.
