Thailand’s Immigration Bureau Unveils Online Notification System for Long-Term Foreign Residents

In a forward-looking move, the Thai Immigration Bureau has introduced an innovative online notification system for foreigners residing in the country for more than 90 days. This digital service marks a significant leap forward in simplifying the reporting process for long-term stays in Thailand. This innovative service, the first of its kind, is set to bring convenience to international tourists while contributing to the economic growth and tourism sector of Thailand.

New Chonburi Immigration Chief Allows 90-Day Reporting by Mail

The initial phase of this initiative is tailored for investors falling under the auspices of the Board of Investment (BOI). Relevant authorities officially launched the “90 days online notification” service. This platform empowers foreigners to report their residence status, allowing them to stay informed about their 90-day limit through an accessible online portal.

Foreigners can effortlessly submit advance notifications up to 15 days before their 90-day stay expires by visiting www.immigration.go.th. Upon registration, users will receive a password via email, facilitating the submission of their 90-day notification. Approval results will be communicated through email or can be accessed directly on the Immigration Bureau’s website.

The initial focus on investors under the BOI’s promotion is strategic, with plans to broaden the scope to include other visa types in subsequent phases. This move is anticipated to garner positive responses from the international community, further boosting Thailand’s appeal to global investors and tourists.

The “90 days online notification” service offers three reporting channels: 1) reporting in person, 2) designating a representative, and 3) sending the notification form to the Immigration Bureau via registered mail. This project marks a significant shift in providing services through the Immigration Bureau’s online platform, enhancing accessibility for foreigners.

Moreover, the Immigration Bureau introduces an e-Extension service, allowing foreigners to apply for a visa extension online. Applicants can conveniently fill out the necessary information, submit it online, confirm their identity with an officer, and receive a visa extension sticker in under 5 minutes. This streamlined process aims to improve efficiency and convenience for foreign visitors.

The Immigration Bureau foresees that these service enhancements will not only facilitate economic growth but also attract a substantial number of foreign tourists and investors to Thailand, positioning the country as a frontrunner in providing efficient and visitor-friendly immigration services.
