Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, Phetchaburi

Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park also known as Khao Wang (hill with palace), is a famous historical park in Phetchaburi that features beautiful palace buildings, temples and an observatory on the 92m hilltop where the King of Thailand used to view the stars.

The park accommodates a palace with adjacent structures located on the western peak, a wonderful chedi named Phra That Chom Phet was built on the top of the central peak and the eastern peak houses the royal temple called Wat Phra Kaew built in a similar way to Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok.

Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park was built as a summer palace by King Mongkut, Rama IV.
