Meteorological Department issues warning of severe weather in south

BANGKOK, 5 December 2016 (NNT) – The Meteorological Department has issued its 24th weather warning indicating heavy rains in the south and strong winds in the Gulf of Thailand.

A strong low pressure front persisting over Sumatra Island is poised to move northwest to generate monsoons and strong winds in the Gulf of Thailand. The situation will also result in heavy rains in provinces including Prachuapkirikan, Chumporn, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phattalung, Songkla, Ranong, Phang-Nga, Phuket and Krabi. Citizens are urged to be careful of both storms and possible flash flooding.
