Chiang Rai will have the highest flag pole in the world standing 189 metres tall or equivalent to 63-storeyed building to promote Thainess and Thai identity.

The highest flag pole project was announced at a press conference today by Chiang Rai governor Boonsong Techamaneesathit, Maj-Gen Pisarn Narkpachon, commander of the 37th military circle and Mr Trin Nilprasert, chairman of the flag pole project.
