4G mobile licences kicks off today despite union’s desperate attempt to stop it

The electronic auction of two licences for the fourth-generation or 4G mobile phone started this morning amid desperate effort by the labour union of CAT Telecom to seek judicial intervention to suspend the auction.

Four bidders which are current key players in the country’s telecom industry entered the bid via their affiliates for two technology-neutral licences of 15 MHz each in the 1800 MHz band.
