NBTC claims digital TV will be ready for the public by the end of this year

BANGKOK, 25th July 2013 (NNT) – National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) Vice President Dr.Natee Sukonrat stated that Digital TV corporate licenses have been issued to the four main entrepreneurs and system tests will take place at the end of August 2013 along with the distribution of Set Top Boxes.

The bidding for Thailand’s digital TV system will be held in the fourth quarter of this year. The process for the transition of the country into the digital era will be laid out step by step. Mr.Natee expects 50% the population to change their television systems to digital after the auction of the licenses. He also assures that the public will be able to watch digital TV by the end of this year.

The prices for network services will be set before the bidding day, which has not been set but is expected to take place before December 2013. Further announcements will be officially made in the Royal Gazette.
