Rangers on standby to help flood victims in Si Sa Ket

SI SA KET, 18 September 2012 (NNT) – A military ranger unit in Si Sa Ket province has gathered relief efforts to provide immediate assistance to anyone affected by floods and mudslides.

Officials from the 23rd Ranger Regiment Task Force have been deployed in a mission to watch out for disasters in Si Sa Ket that could result from heavy downpours. Necessary equipment and vehicles, such as flat-bottomed boats, trucks, ambulances and communication devices, have been prepared.

The rangers who are assigned to the task have been designated as a special unit responsible for disaster prevention and mitigation as well as the rescue of flood victims. The unit is undergoing training to be ready to promptly assist local residents in the event of emergency.
