AYUTTHAYA, 18 September 2012 (NNT) – Ayutthaya Governor Wittaya Pewpong has disclosed that the water level around the Koh Mueang area of the province remains stable despite the rapid current in the Chao Phraya River.
In his recent statement on the flood situation in Ayutthaya, Mr Wittaya said the reason the water level has not increased is because the amount of water released from Chao Phraya Dam has been reduced to only 1,625 cubic meters per second.
The move has prevented the deluge from spreading further from the 6 currently-flooded districts. The governor said tourists can still visit historical places as they have not been flooded, plus major roads remain accessible. He insisted that only riverside communities have been affected so far.
