A village protection volunteer was shot dead on Monday in the latest violence in the restive southern province of Pattani.
The victim was identified as Mama Yamae, 43. He was stationed near a roadside car oil stall on a road in Yaring district when two men on a motorcycle approached him asking about an oil seller. When Mama said the seller was not there, they pulled out the gun and shot him three times.
