SONGKHLA, March 31 – Four persons were confirmed dead and 350 injured in a fire at Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel in Songkhla’s commercial town of Hat Yai, while rescue operations to find remaining victims continued.
The fire broke out in the underground parking area of Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel which was packed with tourists and local residents who went to shop at the plaza at noon, around the same time as bombings in the restive southern province of Yala claimed at least ten lives and wounded 102 people.
Early reports said the fire might have been caused by an explosion of a gas main in the compound or from insurgency attack.
