Thammasat’s Rangsit campus evacuating flood ‘refugees’

PATHUM THANI, Oct 24 – Thammasat University’s Rangsit Campus in province adjacent to Bangkok will evacuate about 1,000 flood victims of the approximately 3,000 persons currently sheltering there, moving them to Rajamangala National Stadium in eastern Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district after the campus was hit by even deeper floodwater since Sunday, according to Vice Rector Kampol Ruchiwit.

Dr Kampol said another 300 of flood victims wished to return home to Ayutthaya, while the rest of the victims will be staying at the university for another night. The evacuation is being assisted by Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) which is providing buses.
