Ranger shot dead in Narathiwat insurgent attack

NARATHIWAT, Sept 8 – An army ranger in this restive southern border province was killed on Thursday as presumed insurgents shot him with an M-16 assault rifle while he was driving a pick-up truck carrying three other rangers back from work.

The slain ranger was identified as Cpl Yongyuth Sujarit posted to an army base in Jo Airong district. He was shot in the head by two presumed insurgents on a motorcycle as he was driving back from a Narathiwat Task Force assignment.
