Police on Monday seized more than a million methamphetamine pills and 73kg of crystal meth, or “ice”, worth a total of 500 million baht in Chiang Rai’s Muang district. A drug suspect was killed during a shootout with police.

Chiang Rai provincial police chief Songtham Alapach said that acting on a tip off a police checkpoint was set up on Phahon Yothin Road leading to central Chiang Rai.
