Two dead in Narathiwat insurgent attack

PATTANI, April 7 – Two persons were killed in an exchange of gunfire between a security guard at the Pattani Veterans’ Office and presumed muslim insurgents Thursday morning as Thailand’s army chief visits the nearby restive southern province of Narathiwat in a follow-up mission on army operations in violence-plagued provinces.

The dead were identified as local veterans’ affairs office security guard Vichet Boonchai, 42, and suspected insurgent Abdulromae Chaewae, 23.
