Monk shot dead, two wounded in violence-plagued Pattani

PATTANI, March 5 — Bloody violence continued in the restive southern province of Pattani early Saturday after two unidentified gunmen shot dead a Buddhist monk and wounded a monk and a novice, police said.

Police said the incident occurred at about 6.10am when the two monks and a novice were walking on a road in Khok Pho district receiving alms and were shot by two gunmen travelling on a motorcycle. The gunmen were still at large.
