10 Companies apply for Thailand 3G bidding

BANGKOK, 28 December 2010 (NNT) – Ten private companies have applied for the bidding to operate the first 3G operation phase, which is expected to be launched by April next year.

On the opening day of the 19-billion-baht 3G service bidding, ten companies have applied for the licenses to operate the lucrative system. Those intent on securing the licenses included Samart Corporation, ZTE Thailand, Loxley (Thailand), Ericsson (Thailand), Advanced Information Technology (AIT), Alcatel- Lucent (Thailand), Huawei Technology (Thailand), Forth Corporation, United Communication Industry (UCOM), and Jasmine International.

January 10 has been set as the date for all bidders to submit their proposals. An e-auction will take place on January 28, and the contract will be signed during February 15-18.
