Thailand orders more Gripen fighters

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 24 (UPI) — Thailand has ordered seven military aircraft and a missile system from Sweden in a deal worth nearly $288 million.

The purchase is the second phase of the military cooperation agreement between the two countries which began in 2008, when Thailand placed its first order for six Gripen fighters.

Sweden’s Defense Materiel Administration said the new purchase order is for six additional Gripen fighters — in the latest, single-seat C version — one Saab 340 Airborne Early Warning surveillance system and the RB 15F missile system.
