Alert over flash floods in southern Thailand

The director of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Monday said that residents in southern eight provinces on the east coast are at risk for flash floods during Nov. 15-17.

Residents in southern provinces of Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani are experiencing heavy rains caused by northeast monsoon that will move pass southern region and Gulf of Thailand.

Flash floods and landslides are likely to occur from Nov. 15 to 17, according to the anticipation of the department.
