Man arrested in North Pattaya following armed robbery of a Buddhist Monk

Just after 2.30 on Tuesday Morning, Banglamung Police were made aware of an armed robbery whereby the victim was a Buddhist Monk. Police were able to arrest the suspect, Khun Galong aged 26 who had allegedly stolen 1,300 Baht from the Monk named as Pra Banyar. The Monk explained that he lived in a small tent in Soi 12 off the Naklua Road and he was awoken by the sound of an argument between a woman and a man. The Monk went to investigate and realized it was a family dispute involving the suspect and his older sister. The argument was over allegations that Khun Galong was planning to break-in to houses nearby so he could raise money to purchase drugs. The Monk intervened and suggested the suspect should re-think his actions. Khun Galong then turned his anger towards the monk and threatened him with a knife.
