Thai PM urges protesters to accept peace offer

Thailand’s prime minister has urged anti-government protesters to accept his peace proposal by today to avoid further violence.

A grenade attack and a shooting killed two police officers and injured 12 other police and civilians on the weekend.

The incidents occurred near the Red Shirts’ rally site in the centre of Bangkok.

The attacks have been blamed on militants who do not want a peace deal for new elections to disperse the anti-government protesters.

Prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is now putting pressure on the Red Shirts to decide whether they will accept the peace plan and his offer to hold elections in mid-November.
