The deadliest strike occurred in Sisaket province, where a 122mm BM-21 Grad rocket slammed into a convenience store inside a PTT petrol station in Kantharalak district, killing six people and injuring 14. The attack took place approximately 20 kilometers from the contested border zone, far deeper into Thai territory than previous incidents.

Earlier in the day, three villagers—including a 12-year-old child—died when Cambodian forces fired rockets at a community center in Surin’s Kab Choeng district during an evacuation operation. District chief Sutthiroj Charoenthanasak reported that between 30,000-40,000 border residents are now being relocated to inland shelters as the conflict zone expands.
The Thai Army confirmed the Soviet-era “Stalin Organ” multiple rocket launchers were used in both attacks, condemning Cambodia for targeting civilian areas. Second Army Region commanders are monitoring the frontier and have deployed additional defensive positions, though officials warn the BM-21’s 40km range creates unprecedented risks for border communities.
There is plenty of evidence showing that Cambodia was the one who started it. Yet Cambodians shamelessly portray themselves as the victims. Even German media have reported that Cambodia was the side that launched the attack on Thailand first. #ไทยกัมพูชา #cambodiaopenedfire https://t.co/J4AGYqVoTh

As emergency teams scramble to assist victims and assess damage, Thailand’s National Security Council is expected to convene an emergency session. The attacks represent the most severe civilian casualties since border tensions reignited last month over disputed territory near ancient temple sites.
