Pattaya Battles Severe Flooding After Three-Hour Downpour

May 3, 2025 – Pattaya was hit by intense rainfall for more than three hours on Saturday evening, triggering widespread flooding across the city and leaving numerous vehicles damaged. The sudden deluge overwhelmed drainage systems, transforming major roads into impassable waterways and stranding both cars and motorcycles in rising floodwaters.

Pattaya Floods Cause Partial Road Collapse on Third Road

Among the worst-affected areas was Pattaya Third Road, a known flood hotspot, where several vehicles were partially submerged as water levels surged. Dramatic footage captured cars stalled in deep water, with owners unable to move them to safety. Similar scenes unfolded along the railway road to Talo, where motorcycles and sedans were caught in the flood, suffering significant damage.

Local authorities quickly issued warnings, urging drivers to avoid flooded zones to prevent further losses. “The water rose very fast, making it impossible for small vehicles to pass,” one emergency responder noted. “We advised people not to risk driving through submerged areas to protect both lives and property.”

Fortunately, once the rain subsided, drainage systems gradually cleared the water within one to two hours, allowing traffic to resume normally. However, residents expressed frustration over the recurring flooding issues, calling for better infrastructure to handle heavy rains.

Pattaya flooded due heavy rainfall, traffic chaos and gridlock

Meteorologists attribute the sudden downpour to seasonal monsoon patterns and warn of possible more rain in the coming days, advising residents to stay alert. Emergency teams remain on standby in case of further flooding.
