The incident began when Mr. H. L., 34, and Mr. A. N., 25, allegedly drove dangerously close to a Bolt delivery rider, J. K., 44, near the busy tourist strip. Though no collision occurred, tensions flared after Mr. H. reportedly hurled a garbage bag at the rider’s motorcycle, triggering a shouting match that quickly turned physical.
Witnesses described a first altercation where the two foreigners allegedly attacked the Thai rider, prompting bystanders to rush to his defense. The tourists retreated, but the feud reignited outside the convenience store, where an angry mob of 30 locals surrounded them. Despite police attempts to de-escalate the situation, Mr. H. allegedly provoked the crowd further by making obscene gestures, leading a Thai man to punch him in the face and knock him to the ground. The tourists were forced to barricade themselves inside the convenience store as the scuffle continued.
