Turkey-Iran border in Bazargan

Three Turkish Soldiers Killed By Bomb

Turkish security officials say three Turkish soldiers have been killed and 10 wounded by an explosion in the southeast of the country.

The explosion near Turkey’s border with northern Iraq on August 10 was in the Uludere district of Sirnak Province.

Security officials say the blast was caused by a homemade roadside bomb that detonated while an armored military vehicle was passing by.

Initial reports had said that five soldiers were killed and eight wounded.

Turkish security officials said they think the attack was carried out by militants from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

The PKK has been designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union, and the United States.

Southeastern Turkey has experienced its worst violence in two decades since the PPK abandoned a cease-fire in 2015.
