Ayutthaya residents prepare for flooding

AYUTTHAYA, Sept 5 – Residents of Ayutthaya about 80 kilometres north of the capital have begun moving household furnishings to upper floors as the Chao Phraya River continues to rise and is expected to overflow soon, flooding the region.

Provincial authorities here began preparing for imminent flooding, moving their valuables to higher levels after the Royal Irrigation Department warned that the rising waters of the Chao Phraya River could overflow and flood many areas.
