Angry farmers urged to join PDRC protests

BANGKOK, Feb 6 – Thailand’s anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) movement has called on angry farmers to join its protest movement to pressure the caretaker government, claiming that the government has no sincerity in resolving rice pledging scheme problems.

PDRC spokesman Akanat Promphan on Thursday said the PDRC leader Suthep Thaugsuban has instructed the movement leaders to start registration of protesters who stayed overnight as part of the measures to tighten up security at around the protest sites. The 19 leading members with arrest warrants have been urged to be more careful of their personal safety, though tightening security around the protest sites is unnecessary.
